Organization: Insignia

Uniform:

• The red cloak was the widely recognized (and feared) uniform of the Spartans.
• If dressed in Greek armor (silver or gold color "muscled" or "bell" cuirass, or a red leather or linen body armor) soldiers will wear a red Spartan cloak.
• All soldiers not in Greek armor fighting with the Spartan units will wear a red tabard, plain or bearing their unit badge.

Shields:

• All Spartan re-enactor's shields will be "bronze" shields - (painted bronze or gold-- well polished bronze is the same color as gold).
• The shields will have the unit badge painted on the lower half, leaving
  room for the Lambda when the individual has earned it.
• Those who have fought at a "foreign war" (outside of their region) may
  paint a 4" red border around their shield.
• Those who have reached Spartiate class may paint a Lambda on the center of their shield, allong with the red border and unit badge.

Insignia of Rank:

Overall Commander: white crest - may be mounted transverse
Enomotarch (Swornband or Company Leader): white crest
Ouragos (File Closer): company banner
Phylarch (File Leader): yellow crest
Demiphylarch (Half-File Leader): red crest
Phalangite (Soldier): black (or brown) crest (optional)

 

Banners:

Any Enomotarch (Company Leader) may have a banner carried on the field. The bannerwould bear the following: a red field with badge of the unit on the gold outline of a Spartan "Dipylon" shield.
